1/25/2018 0 Comments BoomThat's how I feel inside! I made it 21 days. I have lost 11 lbs. I now know that eating things that are good for me are not boring and makes me feel awesome. They recommend easing certain things back into your diet like dairy and caffeine. Don't do it all at once. This AM, I am enjoying my first cup of joe since Jan 3rd. Holy mother of dragons!! How did I go that long? I am trying an almond milk with coconut cream instead of my norm half & half. Let's just say, it's not my half & half, but it will do for now.
This program is awesome, but let me say with the good there is also the 'bad' and the 'ugly'. Bad: I caved and was bad and had wine. I didn't blow up. I didn't give up the day after. I jumped right back on the program the next morning and upped my water intake. I felt great. Ugly: Breakouts and such! Ewe. I have a thing for keeping my face clear of blemishes. Why in all the 35 years of my life would I be getting my first cold sore? The answer is detox or 'die off'. It can be ugly. That's why my after pics will be posted after my face has cleared up, thank you very much. I'm looking forward to keeping up with my new eating habits and will continue to drop the lbs that's causing me 'ol people problems'. I'll keep you posted about the progress, however, it's time to get back to our regularly scheduled programming: Healing With Reiki and other ways to heal yourself from the inside out :) 1/22/2018 0 Comments 2 MORE DAYSI am so close to that finish line! It seems like it went pretty quickly now that I look back, 21 days has been a significant number in my life and it's funny that it is just now hitting me. In the history of Reiki, Usui Sensei spent 21 days on Mt. Kurama and it was only after 21 days of heavy meditation, fasting, and prayer did he obtain the gift of Reiki. My lucky number is '3' and in numerology, 2+1=3. My favorite card game...21! The angel number 21 basically is encouraging you to have a positive attitude to all the changes that are happening, because new beginnings are about to happen and are ALL good. I embraced this number long before I even realized it! So cool how the universe's synchronicities work. I am still feeling great! My sleep has never been so lovely and consistent. AND my jeans have never fit better. I'll be doing a weigh in tomorrow...one day early and can not wait. Measurements will have to wait but I'll make sure to share my before and after photos with those measurements next week!! Someone asked me to what was the worst thing about this doing this cleanse. I answered, "Missing my morning coffee with half and half and my wine!" Then she asked what was the best thing about putting myself through this. My answer came to me very simply, "I am learning what foods my body wants and needs to eat. My habits with my meals have completely changed. My whole life feels like it's about to change and I am actually ok with it." Then I got the goosebumps, which just confirmed what I said out loud. How exciting is this?! Standard Process is seriously awesome and now I want to know about all of the supplements and herbs. This weekend I went to Whole Foods 365 and whoa. They had everything I needed and more. I stocked up for the next couple of weeks. I have decided meal prepping is my best friend and will keep me on track, even after I hit the 21 day mark. I got a beautiful Salmon, broke it into portions and made it 2 ways! The first portion of the salmon was fresh dill, lemon, and organic olive oil. I missed having salads last week, never thought I'd say that. I made the caesar dressing in the 10 degrees cookbook and look forward to that with lunch this week. The recipe below is for day 22 because it has local raw honey. At the end of the day, these recipes I have been using are simple. I want the veg, fruit, and/or protein to be the star!
Honey Garlic Salmon: 2-3 TBS local honey 3 garlic cloves minced 2 TBS gluten free soy sauce Minced ginger root 2 TBS white wine/rice vineager Salmon Marinade for about 30 minutes (I use a gallon freezer bag for easy clean up) before baking in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Take the leftover drippings from the bag and heat up in skillet. Baste salmon with sauce last 5 minutes. I also made a cabbage soup for this week. Veg stock, cabbage, zuc/squash, onion, and canned organic diced tomatoes. I added spices and fresh oregano, a bay leaf, and rosemary to kick it up. I'm all set for the week! Did I mention I love artichokes? They are in season! I prefer them steamed in lemon water and sprinkled with cayenne pepper and sea salt. MMMMM. 1/17/2018 0 Comments 1 Week LEFTI survived the ice storm!! :) I lived in West Virginia for many years. We had a lot of snow days and what you do on a snow day is nothing that I can do on this cleanse. A typical snow day with my gal pals was: 1. Bloody Mary/Mimosa 2. Start cooking comfort food (the big breakfast, brownies, casseroles, chilis and soups with homemade bread, etc...We cooked it all and then we ate it all day. 3. Get the games out. The long games like monopoly and/or phase 10. 4. Switch to beer cause it's gonna be a long day of fun. 5. Eat more. Changing my snow day routine was tough. Thank goodness Texas 'snow days' don't last for days! My purification snow day was very relaxing. I cooked whatever I had leftover, which made me turn up the creativity. By the way, I love artichokes! YUM! I snacked on veggies and fruit. I watched movies and cleaned out my fridge...again. It's that time again to head to the store to restock for my last week of this cleanse. LAST WEEK! Changing my habits and routines, one day at a time! So, I have decided I like these shakes and I don't want to stop drinking them. I hate eating first thing in the am, always have. I love having the shake to lean on. I also like it as my mid afternoon snack. I still haven't tried that many variations. I am happy with whatever frozen fruit I have on hand and the juice of the half of grapefruit I cut up for my mid am snack aka breakfast. I had a veggie shake Monday and it wasn't bad. It just wasn't as good as my berry shake.
Veggie Shake: 2 scoops of SP goodness 1-2 carrots 2 celery stalks Cucumber handful of kale Minced ginger root I feel like this could cure some serious illness or a hangover. I had more chew to it too, which could be good if your really hungry and need to fix a craving. Tonight is Butternut Squash soup. Easiest recipe in the world! I roast all the veggies in the oven (butternut squash, onion, celery, carrots, garlic cloves (secret ingredient). Then add to blender with veggie/chicken/bone stock. The roasted garlic gives it a sweet taste. I usually finish it off with half and half but that will have to wait 1 more week :). ONE MORE WEEK! 1/14/2018 0 Comments 10 Days to GORemember the last post, when I thought I could add proteins on day 8? Yeah, nope. Luckily, I caught it before diving deep into protein heaven. I also got some serious meal prep done, which has left me a very happy lady, leaving my Sunday open to some light house cleaning and relaxing! Today, I added protein and I had tacos for breakfast, just as I said I would. So, lets talk about what I cooked. The first protein was lean grass fed beef and I transformed it into tomato sauce to top my butternut squash noodles and my jicama tacos! 2 dishes, which ends up being 4 meals! What?! Then I baked organic chicken breast with whole poblano peppers. I used some of the chicken for my quinoa 'bowls' (pic above) and blended the poblano pepper into a sauce which adds some spice and flavor! I'll prob make more tacos out of the leftover chicken. These tacos are ridic! And good for you! Jicama Tacos: Pick a protein and add cumin and chili powder Toss broccoli slaw in fresh lime juice, salt/pepper Keep the jicama wrap cold or warm it up for 20 seconds in a hot pan.
1/10/2018 0 Comments Day 5~6~7Hey y'all!! Can you believe I made it to Day 7!!! Me neither. In general, I have been doing great with taking the supplements and eating and enjoying the nutritious food! My hardest thing is avoiding my evening cocktail. My aunt gave me some ideas on making some mocktails for the after work 'ritual'. See recipes below! I am so excited about adding lean proteins back to my meals tomorrow. I need a taco stat! I found some jicama 'tortillas' and I'll be making some guacamole. That just might be my breakfast tomorrow! Pics to come! Energy wise, I'm feeling pretty motivated. I am also feeling a little lighter and my clothes are fitting me a little better. I have been doing self Reiki for at least 5 minutes a day. I have also given some Reiki sessions this week, which was great for not only them, but for me! You receive as much as you give! Today, I woke with some serious pain in my neck and shoulders! Megumi checked me out with her muscle testing and apparently, I have caught a 'common cold' that is just starting. I am adding another fantastic product to my daily regimen from Standard Process to combat this cold that nobody has time for. I am def going to be making my magic chicken noodle soup, which I can eat starting tomorrow :) BY the WAY!! Have you had Megumi's treatments? This woman is really something. Are you looking for a practitioner that can help you heal from allergies, viruses, infections, physical ailments, ETC? Look no further. Megumi is the real deal. Remember when I said I ordered some fun things to help me along this process? Finally, they have started to arrive! Pic below is my meal prep containers for next week and the week after! It's a 15 day supply! One of the things I get stressed about is not being prepared. Meal prepping really helped this week, so far. When I start rushing to prepare a meal or a shake is when all the fun goes away. I am glad I invested in these tools to help me stay ahead of the meals and keep calm! Stay tuned for more 'toys'.
Countdown: 14 days to go! 1/7/2018 0 Comments Day 3/4Day 3-
Since I started this process, I have slept through the night, except for the frequent peeing trips, but quickly falling back to sleep! This is not the norm for me, so I am enjoying my beauty rest. I woke experiencing some joint pain on day 3 and overall body aches. I also was craving a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary or both around 2 pm. Instead, I upped the water intake and decided that I needed some movement. I went on a walk and then cleaned my apartment which lead to more sweating and exercise. Before I knew it, it was 6 pm and I felt great. I had fun with Kale last night! I never thought I would say that.... I made crispy kale (oven at 350 for 10-12 min). I made 2 batches (olive oil+ sea salt+ pepper & Chili pepper+avocado oil) YUMMO! Kale & Leek soup:
It was a welcoming change to the fresh salads and raw veggies. Apparently, I crave a hot meal every night and that is OK!! Day 4- Day off! No pressure to get out of bed except to take my supplements on time. I felt well rested and decided to get up and have a morning meditation. I finally mastered the shake today. I was adding too much water. I like a thick shake, I've decided. Today, I used some frozen and fresh berries (pic above). Honestly, I'm not used to waking feeling so great on a Sunday...I mean Saturday night is usually wine night! Sundays are my lazy days aka hangover days. Over all, I am proud of myself for sticking with it and getting through the weekend. I feel like it can only get better from here. Food is one of my favorite things and I am learning so much about making things taste good that are good for you! I meal prepped like crazy today and have things ready for 3 days. That was fun with my new tool (pic below). Stay tuned for more recipes! For those of you on the 21- day purification, keep truckin! You got this!! 1/5/2018 0 Comments Day 2Alright! Last night was interesting. Remember when I said I was hungry? Well, let's just say "hangry" is a real word and so is the headache I had driving from south Austin to Cedar Park at 5:30pm. BUT, after my shopping trip last night, I prepped a couple of salads and ate what I felt was a lot. I also quick roasted a red onion with some button mushrooms. I tossed them with a touch of organic olive oil and some Cajun seasoning. It took me forever to eat it! This proves to me that I have been 'speed' eating and not even enjoying food. First light bulb, can't wait for more.
After a fantastic night of sleep (thanks to Megumi's sleep tonic) I felt great this AM. Especially with my organic, caffeine free tea! I think I bought every kind out there! The abundance of all the fresh produce is insane! I had to stop my OCD brain from getting too organized as far as my fridge and food prep goes....I mean what are weekends for? I am anticipating a couple of amazon orders this weekend that will help me with this awesome adventure. I ordered a bulk of food prep containers! Stay tuned for pictures this weekend of the other goodies. I'll be headed back to the store for a couple extra things that I forgot while I was buzzing around being hangry. Can you believe I forgot celery? I love celery. Hope you all are doing great on your journey. Apparently, the countdown is working for me.... 19 more days to go. See y'all tomorrow!! 1/4/2018 0 Comments Here We GO!Day 1 Starts today!
First things first, lots of reading has been done. I highly recommend it. You really want to know what to do and what is happening as your body goes through this purification process. My plan to shop and prep for all of this has not been done, so that is my first hiccup. BUT I didn't let it stop me. I used what few veggies I had leftover in my fridge for today's snacks and meals. After work, I go get all the good food in the world. My other hiccup...I'm starving and the last place you want to go is the grocery store. So, heed my warning and the warning that I got from my fellow 21-day friends and that I did not take to heart. Get your food ready before this journey begins. Initially, I thought that taking so many supplements would be hard. Not at all. It's getting the shake down without and fruit or veggies. Thank goodness I got the cookbook. Boring shakes will be a thing of the past.....starting tomorrow! Water intake has been pretty good. In fact, every time I think of the hunger pain or the slight headache, I drink. When I read how much water I am supposed to be drinking a day, I was like 'Whoa'. Basically, you take your weight and divide it in half (ounces). Because I am being so open about this, I'm going to tell you, I am supposed to drink a lil over a gallon!! Holy mother of dragons. Stay tuned, because as promised I will be recording my day to day process. Look at this tea recipe I got this AM from the purification site! Making it tonight, yall! Tigger Tea Ingredients:
Directions (Makes approximately ½ gallon): Steep tea bags in 32 oz of boiling water for 15 minutes In a 64 oz container, combine the steeped green tea and lime juice. Add water and adjust flavors to your taste Pour over ice and sweeten with Stevia (if desired). *Note* If your trying to lose weight like me, skip the stevia. |
