Any living thing can benefit from Reiki. That includes our precious pets. My cats love it. Cats tend to do whatever they want, so I let them come to me if they need some energy work done on them. Dogs tend to be easier, because they are usually getting petted and right by your feet at all times.
My kitten, Luna is a lover but, she runs up, jumps on my shoulder and then licks my hair and then jumps down before I can even pet her. This happens at least twice a day and there is no warning. So, I was giving myself a Reiki session a couple nights ago and here she came. She layed right on my stomach, so naturally I put my hands on her and felt a burning heat. I localized it to being her right hip and felt no physical injury anywhere and after 10 minutes of it she jumped up and off she went. Yesterday (2 days after her Reiki treatment) here she comes again, but this time sitting on my lap " Ma, look at me!" So, I went right to the spot and there it was...a punture wound. It was healing nicely, but usually when there's a puncture wound....abscess is a possibility. Sure enough I found one, but it was already draining and it looked like it was on the mend. I doctored it and kept her inside today, which she hated. She will be fine. Now only if Reiki could keep that stray cat away from my babies. Of course, Reiki does not substitute any medical treatment. When in doubt, get to the vet. Times are tough these days. With the economy the way it is and the demands we all face everyday it is easy to get depressed. It's also easy to focus on all of the negative things that we are faced with on a day to day basis. So, how do we turn this around? I'll tell you a couple things I do to remain calm and stay positive when the cup run-nth over:
1: Focus on what you want. When we focus on the things that we fear and the things we don't want, we tend to create that as our reality. For example: Something is wrong with your car and you have to take it in to get looked at. You think of small numbers on that bill that you will be receiving (I like thinking $0). Then I picture a working vehicle by the end of the day. 2: Think positive: Even if that bill is higher than what you really wanted, think positive. Could it be worse? Probably. Is there anything you can do about it? Probably not. Is the car going to be fixed? Yes! Outcome=Success! 3: Stay calm: Anger, frustration, irritation, and worry are emotions that illnesses feed on. Just carrying these thoughts can cause many issues physically, mentally, and emotionally. " When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of Wisdom, LET IT BE" 4: Be thankful for your many blessings: Think of all the things you have and have accomplished! Examples: Your health, family, a warm and safe home, a job that pays those bills, your friends, your pets, and etc... I could go on and on. When we focus on the positive in our life we are surrounding ourselves with love. It's like our armor. It fights off negative vibes and eventually negative outcomes. So today, turn something negative into a positive! You will start a ripple effect and you will feel lighter!! Happy day to you! It's easy to forget about ourselves these days. With family, friends, and jobs to worry about, where do we fit in? I had a client this weekend that had neck surgery a couple of years ago. She goes to Acupuncture and Cranial Sacral therapy once a month to keep the pain from returning. I said to her "Thank you for taking the time to take care of yourself". She is a 54 yr. old women who just started doing this. She just never thought it was important. I hear this a lot in my work and in my personal life.
It's time we took the time. It doesn't mean that we stop doing our jobs, stop feeding the family, or stop helping a friend in need. We just take a moment, a day, or even a week depending what your insides are saying. Start listening to the inner voice that is trying to be heard. We can only, do, be , and feel so much. If a massage is what you need, then take an hour out of your day for that! What about a nice bath in the evenings? What about a nice walk in nature, when the weather clears, of course. It's really the simple things that we forget about. The things that can keep us sane, healthy, and happy! My first Reiki Master said this to me at 16 and it has never left me " You have to heal before you can help others." What good are we to others when we can't even take care of ourselves? First Post! OK, I have to be honest, I have never blogged, tweeted, or twittered. So, bare with me these first couple times, and I promise you, I will get it right. This one in particular is all about A.R.E! I went to Virginia Beach, VA for a class that took place at the Edgar Cayce School. I took a 4 day course (Herbology module 1). I was lucky to have a travel companion who is also one of my dearest friends. We were so happy to be going to the beach, but when we walked up those steps at the school, Wow, is all I could say. I immediately started taking pictures... I tend to do that a lot. The building, from what I believe, was used as a hospital and for the treatment of some of Edgar Cayce's patients, and has been renovated into this school. I know I saw a nurse up on that 3rd floor window :) So, the class we took was nice. It was so relaxed and on our breaks we had the choice of walking on the reflexology path, walking in the Zen Gardens, or the labyrinth. Or too just enjoy the ocean view and soak in the sun. The energy in this place was incredible. I wish we could of taken a class that was all about the school. Huggie (my friend) and I ate our picnic lunch everyday by the bamboo forest. This was so much more than we expected. I hope to go back for more classes. If you have the chance...Don't even think about it...Just Do It!
