Self Care Rituals

​Whew this eclipse energy + the world today is just making things messy and very uncomfortable. It's time for some self love and care right now more than ever! Everyday you wake up to another list of 'to dos' starting with the first task, getting out of bed. This task alone has seemed like a daunting task to many of us. We forge thru the morning with our routines and chores but what happened to taking some time for ourselves. I call it a ritual when I do an activity that is just for myself. Makes me feel a little special. How often I fit a ritual in a day has been lacking lately. So starting today, I choose myself even it's its for a few minutes. I am asking you to do the same. Below are some ideas for what a morning and an evening ritual can look like. We all have our own vibrations and live lives not like the other. It's important to know some of these won't resonate with you and thats ok. Pick what does and try to add it to your routine a couple of times a week. The goal is to do it daily but let's just start, together. I to need to practice taking some time for myself. I need to learn to put the mask on before tending to others.
  1. Mindful movement- Walking is my favorite. Whether it's in your backyard, up and down your driveway, or you have a great spot for walking in nature, hit the pavement. I prefer power walking to my 90s tunes but my therapist reminded me that sometimes I need quiet and slow movement if my body and mind aren't up to all that bee bopping. She also pointed out the all or nothing bug I have and I laughed cause I literally stopped walking months ago b/c my fav spot was taken away and I used to do my 2 miles there. Since I haven't had access, I do 0 walking. Eye roll at myself. Other types of movement: yoga, tai chi, dancing, swimming, and stretching. 
  2. Journaling- Get yourself a fresh journal- stop using the last pages of an old spiral that's been lying around. Get yourself some cool pens with color or just a really good pen. Aren't those something? How did I get to the age I have a preference of what kind of pen I use....Anyways, intentional journaling with prompts or just free hand works! Just get it out. 
  3. Water- Whether it's taking a dip in a pool, river, lake or ocean OR it's soaking in a goddess bath, get in some water. Water is great for emotional releases so if you feel stuck emotionally, getting in the water is the answer. 
  4. Magic drink- Take the time to adorn your water, coffee, tea, or any beverage! I like adding cinnamon to my coffee this time of year. Adding mint and lemon to sun tea really adds a special something. Feeling under the weather? Try fresh ginger and honey to a hot cup of brewed tea. Mocktails are also an idea when you need something refreshing! Once you have your drink in hand, now you add the magic by putting an intention in it. Say these words out load or to yourself directly towards your cup in your hand before you take your first sip. Spend this moment with yourself, for yourself. "I am enough." "I am loved" "I am powerful and have lots of energy to get through this day with success" "I am healing and I allow what no longer serves me to leave now" "I am free of burden and stress in this moment".​ OR find your own mantra that resonates! Drink and enjoy your magic beverage!
  5. Prayer/Gratitude/Meditate- This can be done all day if you would like. We all say there is little time to do so but truth is, we multitask all sorts of things. I know you talk to yourself like I do. Go ahead and try talking to your guides instead of yourself. You might be very surprised when the 'aha' moments start to come more frequently. Take a moment and connect with the source and/or spirit whether it's with God, your angels, goddess, buddha, your guides, or ancestors, just reach out! Let them know what you are thankful for. Share your worries, your plans, and your heart with them. They are here to listen and here to assist. You are never alone.
